You might think you have lots of embarrassing stories about being a teenager. Well, prepare to feel much better about yourself and feel very sorry for a teenager who got himself into a terrible situation. This poor kid got a USB cable stuck in his penis.

A 13-year-old boy from China was “curious” about his genitalia and, for some reason, decided that the best way to satisfy his curiosity would be to slowly insert a phone charger through his urethral orifice. He managed to insert 20 centimeters (7.8 inches) of it into his urethra. If you are already uncomfortable, look away because things get worse than this.

The teenager then tried to pull it out but couldn’t. The cable was stuck. At this point, he told his parents, who took him to the local hospital in Linkou county, which is situated in North-Eastern China, not far from Vladivostok and the North Korean border.

In the hospital, medical practitioners lubricated the cable and attempted to extract it. They were not only unsuccessful but caused significant pain to the unnamed teenager. He was then transferred to Harbin Children’s Hospital where he underwent more detailed examinations by Doctor Xu Liyan, the facility’s resident urologist.

“He cut off one end of the cable and inserted it into his urethra.” Dr Xu explained, as reported in the Daily Mirror. “The cable reached his bladder, where it tangled and ended up in a knot, so when he tried to pull it back out, it became stuck.”

When the complexity of the situation became clear, the only option was to operate. Dr Xu and her team had to reach the boy’s bladder, cut the knot, and then remove part of it through the surgical incision. The remaining cord was pulled out through the urethra.

The teenager was discharged a few days ago after about two weeks in the hospital.
