Guy who leaked new Guns N Roses song gets arrested... Kid Rock mistreated in the U.K... Staind announces dates for new tour

A 27-year-old blogger named Kevin Cogill was arrested on Wednesday (August 27th) at his Los Angeles home on suspicion of violating federal copyright laws for leaking nine Guns N' Roses songs online, according to the Los Angeles Times. Cogill, who used the name Skwerl, was accused of posting the songs at a website called Antiquiet in June, where they were available for public access. The site crashed from the amount of traffic it received once word of the leaked tracks got out. Cogill admitted to federal agents that he posted the songs and was expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon.

Cogill operates Antiquiet himself and used to work in the distribution department of Universal Music, which owns Guns N' Roses' catalog.

It is not yet known how Cogill obtained the tracks, which are taken from the yet-to-be-released Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy. He told Rolling Stone that he received them from an "anonymous online source," and took them down after being contacted by "a really cool guy from the G N'R camp that was a middleman between someone who was very angry and me."

Cogill was also visited at his office by two FBI agents who questioned him about the leak.

Kathy Leodler, director of investigations for the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) Western region office, told the Times, "The arrest of Kevin Cogill is great for the recording industry related to our online investigations. We are very pleased with the FBI's interest and the U.S. attorney's office's aggressiveness in pursuing this investigation. We think we'll see more and more of these pre-release cases."

Kid Rock told a British tabloid newspaper that he pulled out of the U.K.'s Download Festival in June because he felt mistreated by the show's organizers, and not because he was ill. Rock was quoted by the Daily Star's music columnist as saying that the festival's promoters "treated me like f***. There was just one trailer for my whole band. We had no water, no bathroom, no rider. The final straw was when they wouldn't give my crew any food or drinks vouchers. I called the promoter and told him he had two hours to get it sorted or I was out. They did nothing so I visited the promoter's office, took a p*** on his couch and left."

The show's organizers issued a statement on the day of the show (June 13th) saying that Rock had fallen ill and was rushed to a nearby hospital. It was later reported that he had been suffering from dehydration.

But Rock told the Star he was nowhere near a hospital, and was instead "wandering the streets in Birmingham, trying to find a good movie to watch."

A spokesperson for Download producers Live Nation said about Rock's remarks, "This is the first we've heard of it. At this stage we have nothing to add." Rock's publicist did not answer a request for comment.

Rock shot the video for his next single, "Roll On," on Wednesday (August 26th) in Detroit. The track is featured on his latest album, Rock 'N Roll Jesus.

Kid Rock headlines his own show in Milwaukee on Thursday (August 28th) before re-teaming with Lynyrd Skynyrd for a couple of gigs this weekend.

The first dates for Staind’s upcoming tour with Papa Roach and Seether have been confirmed, they are:

I've heard these before but since the Olympics just wrapped up I thought I'd revisit them for you all...

Top 9 Olympic Commentator moments

9. Weightlifting commentator: "This is Gregoriava from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing" (The snatch is a type of weightlifting event FYI)

8. Dressage commentator: "This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother."

7. Paul Hamm, Gymnast: "I owe a lot to my parents, expecially my mother and father."

6. Boxing Analyst: "Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious."

5. Softball announcer: "If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again."

4. Basketball analyst: "He dribbles a lot and the oppostition doesn't like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces."

3. At the rowing medal ceremony: "Ah, isn't that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew." (The cox is the member of the team that sits in the stern FYI)

2. Soccer commentator: "Julian Dicks is everywhere, it's like they've got eleven Dicks on the field." (Julian played for England)

1. Tennis commentator: "One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them... Oh my God what have I just said."

Slipknot release new album today... Avenged Sevenfold singer strains voice... Rage Against The Machine halts yet another show

Hey Rockheads before we get into the new blog I just wanted to apologize for taking so much time off. With Helluva Week, Mayhemfest plus traveling it's been tough to get any info worth a shit to put out there but I'm back now so let's get into some headlines:

Slipknot releases its fourth major label album, All Hope Is Gone today! The CD is the band's first new studio offering in more than four years, following 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses). Lead vocalist Corey Taylor has injected a lot of religious, Biblical and numerological references into his lyrics this time, and told us he's wanted to tackle these themes for nearly two years: "When it came time to write and put stuff together, I had stuff that I really wanted to say. Stuff that was just very blatant, but very powerful. And I was able to fit it together with the music, so that was, you know, kind of a lucky thing. It was just time for me to start talking about these concepts, you know. I'd kind of done the thing where I talked about myself, and there's always gonna be moments in songs where I do talk about myself, but it was time to branch out."

Slipknot was forced to cancel several U.K. and European festival appearances as well as performances for MTV Europe and Virgin TV after drummer Joey Jordison broke his ankle. Jordison has been advised to stay off the ankle for four to six weeks to prevent further injury. DJ Sid Wilson also broke both heels onstage last month but has been performing in a wheelchair.

The band's music was also accused last week of influencing a South African teenager who stabbed a classmate to death while wearing a Slipknot-style mask. Corey Taylor told Blender magazine, "I'm disturbed by the fact that people were hurt and someone died. As far as my responsibility for that goes, it stops there, because I know our message is actually very positive."

Slipknot recently completed the first Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour with co-headliners Disturbed and will return to North American stages in January so let's keep our fingers crossed for a Cincinnati date!

Avenged Sevenfold was forced to cancel its Sunday (August 24th) appearance at England's Reading Festival and scrap the rest of its U.K. dates because of singer M. Shadows's strained throat. An announcement posted by the band online stated, "(Shadows)' doctors in the United Kingdom and Los Angeles have both advised him that he must rest his voice and cannot perform. Thankfully there are no long-term problems and with proper rest, Matt will return to the road shortly." The statement added, "The band is still in England now and is extremely disappointed that they can't play a show they have been looking forward to for a long time."

Shadows, whose real name is Matt Sanders, was expected to post a personal message at some point. The group also had to cut its set short on Saturday (August 23rd) at the Leeds Festival due to Shadows' voice.

Avenged Sevenfold was joined onstage last Wednesday (August 20th) in London by Bullet For My Valentine frontman Matt Tuck to perform the classic Pantera song "Walk." Avenged Sevenfold's studio version of the track is also on iTunes and Shadows told us how it came about: "I think the way it started was, we were just rehearsing for (2007's) Ozzfest, and it was a pretty easy song to play. We already kind of knew it, and we were just jamming it and we were like, 'Hey, maybe we should play this during our set.' Pantera's not around anymore and we're friends with some of the guys and we know they'd give us their blessings, and we were just like, 'We'll play it.' And so we called up (producer) Terry Date, who did all the Pantera records, we just went in the studio one day and knocked it out in a day."

Avenged Sevenfold will release a live CD/DVD titled Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough on September 9th, one week before the band begins a co-headlining tour with Buckcherry. Once again I'll keep you updated on dates for this tour as well.

And finally Rage Against The Machine's headlining set at England's Leeds Festival on Saturday (August 23rd) was halted midway through the fourth song by festival organizers because of crowd issues, according to Gigwise.com. Concertgoers at the front were apparently being crushed against the barriers by fans pushing from behind, leading organizers to cut the band's sound and lights. After a brief meeting with security, singer Zack de la Rocha announced, "We don't want to have to stop the show. Help our brothers and sisters up front. Everyone take a couple of steps back."

The rest of the show, which had started half an hour late, proceeded without incident.

The previous night (Friday, August 22nd) at the Reading Festival, the band came onstage in prison outfits worn by Guantanamo inmates.

Rage's performance at Chicago's Lollapalooza festival earlier this month was also marked by tense crowd conditions.

The politically explosive quartet next plays on Wednesday (August 27th) in Denver during the Democratic National Convention, before heading to Minnesota next week to play in protest of the Republican Convention. I'm sure all sorts of crap will go down with the Republican show so I hope McCain and Co. are ready!

That's it for tonight leave any comments you want as always and don't forget to listen to win tickets to the NIN show in Lexington on Sunday! Peace

Mayhem Fest Review

Too properly start this blog the words WOW have to be established cause that's exactly how I felt after seeing on the better tours this year! WOW Now first I have to admit I only saw three bands... now before you jump up and scream at me let me explain what went down.

First we hit the Belly Bus at 11am with our winners and the festivities begin! The first ever Cornholeshop.com Cornhole Tournament starts with 6 teams competing to go backstage with Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed! So we do a double elimination tournament with the winner being Shake N Bake which were Ben and Grant. Lots of beers and shots went down and we rolled up to the Verizon Wireless Center with a pretty good buzz going and only had to make two piss stops on the way up at a gas station and a Panera Bread restaurant. Customers at Panera looked a bit leary when a prison bus rolled up outsid their store and then a bunch of half drunk rockerheads came pouring out but all was well.... the pee was great and we all went to Verizon. FYI only one person puked on the way up and he said it was due to what he ate for breakfast and not drinking... but whatever

So our winners and I head to the venue to meet up with Five Finger Death Punch and the guys were awesome. We met up with Matt and Jeremy first and took some pics then cracked open the FFDP cornhole set designed by cornholeshop.com and man were the guys impressed stating that they wish they had these things about 40 shows ago! So we just goofed around and played without keeping score as Zoltan and Darrell joined us. And before you know it we had a bunch of gals (I'm assuming they were the band's girlfriends/wifes) playing with us as well. We were trying trick shots and just having a blast, Matt even stated that they had a cornhole tournament with a bunch of the bands just a few dates ago so they were ecstatic about the boards, the only complaint was that "it was tough finding the hole without any hair around it" :) Even Ivan came off the bus to chat and sign some posters for us so it was truly a great experience with the group.

So then our group headed back to the Belly Bus for some beers since they were selling them for $10 bucks a piece in the venue. We chatted about the station, their favorite groups etc then it was time to meet with Disturbed. We were going to play fooseball with the guys but due to a time crunch the guys had to decline the match but were able to come hang backstage with us for a few moments to chat, take some pictures and sign some posters for us. ONE thing I have to admit was really cool about all the guys in both groups was the fact that they all wanted to shake hands with us and thanked us for all the support and for coming out to the show. Some groups might take a pic and blow you off but both groups couldn't have been nicer and cooler to us.

So with all the signed stuff I suggested we take the stuff back to the bus so we didn't get jumped for our goods... our winners went to watch FFDP and Andy and I headed back to the bus for some more beers and to hang with Jimmy our driver! We shot the breeze for about an hour, got into a bags fight on the bus and then headed back in to check out the main stage, so that's how we missed all the other bands.

Dragonforce was finishing up their set when we got to the lawn and I have to be honest I'm not a big fan of their sound. It's very 80's retro sounding and really just makes me think of Guitar Hero more than anything. So they didn't get much of a pop from the crowd but the place is jammed and everybody is ready for Disturbed who is on next.

Disturbed sounded really good and Dave did a great job of getting some crowd participation with fist pumping, U-S-A chants etc. They really did a hell of a job, then Slipknot hit the stage last and they were incredible as always. Corey even mentioned how impressed he was with how packed the place was! Finally we get back to the bus and I probably made it 20 minutes into the ride home when I passed out and everyone knows if you pass out in public you must suffer the consequences and I woke up with a marker mustache on my face... In the end I had a marker mustached, an empty wallet, half a voice from all the screaming, a sore neck and shoulder from head bangins and fist pumping, a splitting headache, and a ton of memories.

So all in all the trip was great thank you to Jimmy the driver, the Belly Bus, Cornholeshop.com and to all the rockheads who came along for the ride it was a trip to remember and I hope we can do more stuff like this again in the future. Pictures will be up next week I hope so come back and check em out!

Frontman Ivan Moody said in a statement, "After kicking ass with all our metal friends on Mayhem this past summer, we knew that our next step had to be massive!!...We are pulling out ALL the stops and we are taking no prisoners!!"

Five Finger Death Punch has been on the road almost nonstop since the release last year of the band's debut disc, The Way of the Fist. Moody, who suffered from throat problems earlier this year, told us what his pre-show ritual is like these days: "I usually like to chew on glass and punch myself many times. No, my pre-ritual is basically just working out for about a half hour, trying to get all vamped up, and there's nothing really I do. It's just something that, the second I step on that stage, I can't even explain it. It's like a switch goes off in my head and I just become this entire different entity."

Most shows on the tour go on sale this weekend to the general public, while VIP pre-sale tickets will be available starting Tuesday (August 12th) at 3:00 p.m. local time through the band's MySpace page.

The first 50 fans in each city to buy tickets will get passes to meet Five Finger Death Punch before the show.

Buckcherry has posted two new songs, called "Don't Go Away" and "Rescue Me," at the band's MySpace page. Both are taken from the group's upcoming fourth album, Black Butterfly, which is due out on September 16th. Buckcherry singer Josh Todd told us that he was inspired to write "Rescue Me" after reading an especially powerful book: "I read this book called A Child Called It. It's about the third worst child abuse case in California history and it just really, I felt like this book found me. I was reading this book and it had a real profound effect on me. This guy had been abused by his mother, and it was a very interesting, horrifying story, you know. Out of that came two songs really, which was a song called 'Child Called It' and this other song, 'Rescue Me.'"

The first single from Black Butterfly, called "Too Drunk...," allegedly leaked online recently, although a web site covering BitTorrent news discovered that the song was actually planted on the popular file-sharing networks by the band's management.

Buckcherry recently posted the first in a series of webisodes at MySpace chronicling the making of Black Butterfly, which follows up 2006's 15.

After its stint on Crue Fest, Buckcherry will team up with Avenged Sevenfold for a fall co-headlining tour beginning on September 16th in Moline, Illinois, which will also feature Shinedown and Saving Abel.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has revealed to the Los Angeles Times that the band's 2007 conceptual album, Year Zero, could possibly become a series for HBO. Reznor told the paper, "I just pitched it to HBO two weeks ago in L.A. It went great. Ideally, we're trying to get them to do a two-year limited series. I prefer that over a film. We would have a second ARG (alternate reality game) tying into the second album and ties into the series and they all happen together."

Reznor admitted he'd love to see Year Zero translated to the screen, saying, "It's the most exciting thing on the horizon. It's the thing that when I wake up in the morning it makes me say, 'God it would be cool if that happened.' This is my grand ambition."

Year Zero is set approximately 15 years in the future, with the U.S. run by a right-wing religious dictatorship and the world on the verge of environmental and economic collapse.

The album was promoted by an alternate reality game that featured clues spread across multiple web sites, music planted in venues where NIN had played and cryptic phone messages.

Nine Inch Nails is currently touring behind the band's latest album, The Slip, which is available as both a free download and a paid physical CD.

Slipknot to tour in the U.S. again in January 09'... New Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack in September... Buckcherry doing webisodes

If you have missed Slipknot on this summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour, don't worry -- the band will return for its own trip through the U.S. starting in late January. It's too early for details, but fans will probably hear a lot more of the band's new album, All Hope Is Gone, on that trek. The group is only playing one new song on the current trip, but singer Corey Taylor told us he couldn't be happier with the response the band has received: "It's very appreciative. It's been two and a half years since we played, our first show was Seattle and people were just so cheesed to see us, you know what I mean? It was such a great feeling. And, you know, the feedback afterward is just so good, man. People are just celebrating you being there, and if you do well, then people are just really gonna have a good time watching you."

In addition to all-new masks and costumes, Slipknot's current stage show features a lift that raises percussionist Shawn Crahan high above the stage as well as a drum platform for Joey Jordison that rotates sideways, upside down and around.

All Hope Is Gone which is due out August 26th will be premiered during a series of listening parties held across the country at Hot Topic retail stores next Friday, August 15th at 7 p.m. The entire disc will be played once from start to finish and fans will get to pre-order it on the spot and receive a limited edition Slipknot patch.

DON'T FORGET TO LISTEN TO 96 ROCK TO HOPE ONBOARD THE 96 ROCK BELLY BUS TO GOT TO MAYHEM FEST IN INDY ON WEDNESDAY!

Rise Against, the Plain White T's, Korn and others have recorded new versions of songs from the Tim Burton-produced animated cult film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, for a soundtrack reissue due out on September 30th. The 20-track collection will also include contributions from Evanescence singer Amy Lee, Marilyn Manson, Flyleaf, the All-American Rejects, Shiny Toy Guns and more, along with the original opening and closing themes by composer Danny Elfman.

The track listing for The Nightmare Before Christmas '08 is:
"Overture" - DeVotchk
"Opening" - Danny Elfman
"This is Halloween" - Marilyn Manson
"Jack's Lament" - All-American Rejects
"What's This?" - Flyleaf
"Town Meeting Song" - Polyphonic Spree
"Jack and Sally Montage" - The Vitamin String Quartet
"Jack's Obsession" - Sparklehorse
"Kidnapping the Sandy Claws" - Korn
"Making Christmas" - Rise Against
"Nabbed" - Yoshida Brothers
"Oogie Boogie's Song" - Tiger Army
"Sally's Song" - Amy Lee
"Christmas Eve Montage" - RJD2
"Poor Jack" - Plain White T's
"To the Rescue" - Datarock
"Finale/Reprise" - Shiny Toy Guns
"Closing" - Danny Elfman
"End Title" - The Album Leaf
"Oogie Boogie's Song" - Rodrigo y Gabriela

Buckcherry may pretend to get upset when the band's songs are "leaked" online, but otherwise they're making full use of the reach of the Internet. The group has posted the first in a series of webisodes at MySpace chronicling the making of its new album, Black Butterfly, as well as its current touring activities. The first clip shows the Los Angeles-based band getting ready for its stint on this summer's Crue Fest, with more to follow leading up to Black Butterfly's September 16th arrival.

Singer Josh Todd told us that Buckcherry worked harder on this album than anything the band has done before, including its 2006 comeback, 15: "We spent longer on this writing process than any of our other records. We wanted to make sure that, you know, we had the goods, you know, because 15 was a great record and we wanna continue to elevate our game, you know. So, you know, it's not gonna be 15 all over again, but it's definitely where we're at now and the body of work is really amazing."

The first single from Black Butterfly, called "Too Drunk...," allegedly leaked online recently, although a web site covering BitTorrent news discovered that the song was actually planted on the popular file-sharing networks by the band's management.

Josh Todd stated at the time of the so-called leak, "Honestly, we hate it when this...happens, because we want our fans to have any new songs first."

After its current stint on Crue Fest WHICH IS AT RIVERBEND ON TUESDAY AUGUST 19TH, Buckcherry will team up with Avenged Sevenfold for a fall co-headlining tour beginning on September 16th in Moline, Illinois, which will also feature Shinedown and Saving Abel.

Three Days Grace DVD coming soon... Metallica denies political content in new video... More details on Ozzfest

Three Days Grace will release a concert DVD called Live at the Palace in two weeks, on August 19th. According to Tunelab Music, the disc will only be available at Best Buy stores. No other details about the track listing, additional features or packaging has been made available. A new live DVD from the Canadian group seems like a natural, given the amount of roadwork the band has done in the last five years. Frontman Adam Gontier told us that all that touring has paid off for the band: "I don't know, I think it's really the only way for a rock band to do it, is to get as many tours as you can, play with as many bands as you can just to get out there because it's...you know, putting out just a radio single and hoping to have some longevity with that is pretty weak. So, you know, you gotta tour, and that's, we've been on tour, basically, constantly since the first record."

Three Days Grace came off the road earlier this spring after touring for the better part of two years behind its 2006 sophomore release, One-X.

The quartet has been working on new material during breaks and is tentatively preparing to enter the studio sometime this fall.

Adam Gontier can be heard as a guest vocalist on "I Don't Care," the latest single from Finnish rock cello quartet Apocalyptica's current effort, Worlds Collide.

Metallica has denied in a new interview at MTV.com that the band's newly-shot video for the song "The Day That Never Comes" has a political message. Although the clip features footage of soldiers being wounded and helping both each other and foreign civilians, frontman James Hetfield said, "Metallica has never plugged into any current event visually, but this one is kind of a hotbed. People have very high opinions about this war, and we're trying to cut through all of that. The politics and the religion tend to separate people, and what we're trying to do is bring it together with the common thread of resentment and forgiveness."

Hetfield added that he hopes the video puts "the human element in what is an unfortunate part of life...There are people over there dealing with situations like this, and we're showing the human part of being there."

"The Day That Never Comes" is the first song that will arrive from Metallica's new album, Death Magnetic, which is due out worldwide on the unusual release date of Friday, September 12th. No reason was given for the date, although the band's 2003 effort, St. Anger, was also issued on a Friday to avoid leaked copies from getting online.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told us that the band's main objective is to get their music to fans in the best way possible: "I mean, we're trying hard to, you know, just not fall into or kind of stay in, you know, just one particular way, and we have a bunch of people around us that are helping. The main thing really is just the fans. You know, it's like, how do you communicate with the fans, how do you get the music to the fans, how do you offer your fans the best Metallica experience that you can?"

Death Magnetic will be issued in a number of different configurations, ranging from a digital release to limited deluxe editions featuring both CDs and vinyl.

Metallica will co-headline the one-day Ozzfest with Ozzy Osbourne this Saturday (August 9th) at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas.

More details about this coming weekend's Ozzfest are emerging, including set times and information about the tribute to late Pantera/Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott that is scheduled as part of the festival. The all-star tribute will include a performance of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" by Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell and bassist Mike Inez, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and vocalist Pearl Aday, Ian's fiancee and daughter of singer Meat Loaf. This will be the only acoustic number performed during the tribute, which will feature the aforementioned artists plus members of Metallica, Slayer, Mudvayne, Hellyeah, Hatebreed and others.

The Dimebag tribute will take place during Hellyeah's main stage set, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Abbott was gunned down onstage at a Columbus, Ohio nightclub on December 8th, 2004.

Meanwhile Ozzfest has also posted set times for the rest of the show. The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a battle of local bands, with second stage acts starting at 11:30 a.m. and main stage performances beginning at 1:30 p.m. Ozzy Osbourne will play from 8:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., while Metallica will close the show from 9:45 to 11:15.

Other acts performing at Ozzfest include Serj Tankian, Korn singer Jonathan Davis, Apocalyptica, Sevendust, In This Moment and more.

Ozzfest will take place on Saturday, August 9th, at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas. This is the only Ozzfest of the summer, following more than a decade as a traveling festival.

Details on Slipknot's deluxe addition of new album, NIN adds unplugged set into live show, info on Kid Rock assault charges

Slipknot has revealed the details of the special edition of its upcoming album, All Hope is Gone, due out on August 26th. In addition to the standard CD, the deluxe version will contain three bonus tracks, expanded artwork and a bonus DVD called Nine: The Making of All Hope is Gone, a 35-minute documentary directed by percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan. The three bonus tracks are called "Child of Burning Time," "Vermilion Part 2 (Bloodstone Mix)" and "'Til We Die."

All Hope is Gone is Slipknot's fourth major label album and follows up 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).

The band is currently on the road with Disturbed and others as part of the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour. The trek pulls into West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday (July 30th).

Slipknot has also unveiled the first two T-shirt designs from the group's new clothing line, Tattered and Torn. The shirts have been made available exclusively in North America through the Hot Topic retail chain. Tattered and Torn will start with shirts and hoodies before expanding into a full-range clothing line.

Trent Reznor has introduced an "unplugged" portion into the new Nine Inch Nails live show, which premiered on Saturday (July 26th) in Seattle. According to RollingStone.com, the band stepped to the front of the stage about an hour into the show with Reznor on vibraphone and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen playing an upright bass. The 20-minute jazzy, acoustic set was taken mostly from Ghosts I - IV, the instrumental album that Reznor released online earlier this year. The stage show also featured mesh LED curtains that projected various visuals, ranging from falling rain to static to a ruined city, and made the band appear to be playing on what Jam! Music called "a stage that appeared to be constructed entirely out of lights."

The two-hour set featured NIN classics such as "Closer," "Terrible Lie," "Hurt," "March of the Pigs" and "Head Like A Hole," in addition to songs from the band's latest album, The Slip.

The Slip was issued as a free download last month and arrived on July 22nd in North America as an individually numbered limited edition. It was packaged with a bonus DVD of rehearsal performances.

A vinyl edition of the record will be released on August 12th, while the digital version will remain free for download indefinitely at NIN.com.

The previous NIN album, Ghosts I - IV, was made available in March in a variety of digital and physical configurations.

Nine Inch Nails next plays in Winnipeg, Canada on Thursday (July 31st) and will headline the closing day of this weekend's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on Sunday (August 3rd).

A suit brought against Kid Rock by three men charging the singer with battery has been amended and was filed again on Tuesday (July 29th) in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to E! Online. The suit, by three men who claim that Rock and members of rap group the Boo-Ya Tribe assaulted them after they asked for autographs, now includes additional charges of assault and clarifies allegations of negligence against both Rock and his security team. Michael Medlin, Carlos Bonilla and Jose Perez claim that they were kicked and beaten in the early morning hours of March 22nd, 2006 outside the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles.

The new suit alleges, "Kid Rock himself owed a duty to (the men) to ensure that his own actions, and the actions of those he had control over...would do nothing to cause injury to foreseeable persons such as plaintiffs," adding that Rock's security detail "failed in their duties" to prevent the men from being "unreasonably harmed."

The suit was amended after Rock's lawyer challenged the negligence claim in the original lawsuit, which was filed this past March.

The Roosevelt, a nightclub called Teddy's inside the hotel and Lost Highway touring have also been named as defendants in the suit, which also includes charges of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and malice.

The three men are asking for at least $15 million in damages, claiming wage loss, loss of use of property, hospital and medical expenses, property and general damages and loss of earning capacity.

Rock said that his fame and colorful personality make him a prime target for such lawsuits: "It's tough in this day and age, because I am somebody who's out there and has fun and, you know, don't really hide or...you know, what you see is what you get, obviously. And in this day and age, everybody's got a camera phone and this, that and the other, so with information, how it can be channeled and given and received, whenever you do something that's even minimally, like, you know, news...I don't know, it's just crazy to me."

Rock was sentenced earlier this month to a year's probation and fined $1,000 for his role in a fight that took place last fall at a Waffle House restaurant outside Atlanta. He must also go for six hours of anger management counseling and serve 80 hours of community service.
